What advice do you have for 8th graders applying to high school? Be passionate about your choice!!! You're going to be spending four years in this environment, so pick a school that you identify with. Although that comes along with a certain pressure, try your best to go with the option that resonates the most with you. Plus, this will make applying to the school easier, as you can use that passion to express your interest.

What is your favorite place on campus? I really enjoy a particular shady spot on the side of the music lawn. Right by the building , there are a couple of colorful Adirondack chairs that make up the ideal hangout spot. You're placed in a communal area with plenty of movement, but that shady area next to the building gives you some space to just breathe and relax.

What are you involved in on Campus? I am a PHIRE (Peer Health Initiatives, Resources and Education) senior and a midfielder in the Men's Varsity Soccer Team. Although these groups are very different, I find in them a similar joy. They both involve the idea of assisting (both in soccer and in day-to-day situations) those around you.

What has been your favorite class? So far, Dr. Tinnemeyer's Russian Literature class is my favorite. Dr. T seamlessly immerses us in Russian culture in a single semester. The course-load was innovative and packed with creative projects (re-enacting scenes, podcasts, interdisciplinary interviews, and many more). Not to mention that Dr. T's enthusiastic tone, which facilitates heavy discussions on dense books. If you are into philosophy, Russian culture, or you just want to experience one of the best courses ever, I definitely recommend Dr. T's Russian Literature class.

What has been the best thing about College Prep? The flexibility and the responsibility that the students are given. At CPS, I feel like a great part of your education is in your own hands. Although this is an extra challenge to adapt to, I think it is an extremely valuable experience that ultimately sets CPS apart from other academically-rigorous high schools. In my perspective, this heightened exposure to responsibility makes you grow into a leadership role (internally, externally, or even both).

What is your favorite College Prep memory? NCS (North Coast Section) Finals with the Men's Varsity Soccer team. We lost the game, but we made CPS history in reaching the conference finals for the first time! We had a huge crowd of fans cheering us on. Even though we left with the silver medal, the whole team felt supported by our community.

Who is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series? I absolutely adore Kevin from The Office. Dwight is a close-second for the position. It would be hard for you to convince me that Kevin's "chilli-dropping" scene is not the best scene in the whole series.

Three unusual things about me:
1. Instead of having one middle name and one surname, I have four surnames.
2. I lived for sixteen years in Brazil, and I transferred to CPS just before junior year.
3. Cacti are my favorite plants, and I even have one in my room
