A conversation with College Prep parent Dr. Russell Jeung, Professor of Asian American Studies at San Francisco State University

The College Prep Parents' Association Equity and Inclusion Committee (PAEIC) hosted a conversation with College Prep parent Dr. Russell Jeung, Professor of Asian American Studies at San Francisco State University, and author of books and many articles on race and religion.

Dr. Jeung talked to College Prep parents about the surge of anti-Asian violence and hate across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic and how it was the impetus to create the self-reporting website, Stop AAPI Hate, with Chinese for Affirmative Action and the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council. Dr. Jeung also discussed the history of Asian immigration to the United States and related discriminatory and exclusionary policies including the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and the Japanese American incarceration during World War II. Thank you Dr. Jeung for joining us!
